the future
looks Golden

At the foot of the Colorado Rockies, just 20 minutes from Denver and Boulder, past meets present, nature stretches her legs, and life flows like Clear Creek through historic downtown Golden. Here, the original production facility of the Coors family’s technical ceramics manufacturer (CoorsTek) is being thoughtfully transformed into a walkable, deeply sustainable, innovative new district. A new local hangout that expands the fabric of town. A regional destination for foodies and adventure seekers. And a state-of-the-art hub for leading-edge companies seeking an exceptional environment for their team members.

is incredibly meaningful. We’re excited to call it home for the next 100 years.”

VISION

what’s old
is new again

A new district in downtown Golden is coming to life at 9th Street and Washington Avenue, bringing a dynamic new gateway and sense of welcome to town. Located on 12+ acres of land owned by the Coors family since 1884, Clayworks gets its name from a legacy of world-class ceramics manufacturing and ingenuity that happened here. And today, these industrial uses are giving way to Golden’s next generation of innovation and creativity.

Clayworks will include a collection of new and restored buildings and artifacts. At its center will be the new, state-of-the-art global headquarters for CoorsTek, surrounded by the good company of other people and organizations who share a commitment to craft, sustainability and community.

Clayworks will connect and enhance downtown with even more experiences.

More workplaces, shops, residences, restaurants, brew pubs and places to stay.

And more places to walk, climb, gather, delight and connect with Golden’s big nature.

LEGACY

a legacy
of innovation

Golden is known for its outdoor lifestyle and its beer, and not necessarily in that order. Yet for the last century it has also been quietly leading the world in materials sciences and highly engineered ceramics production. From fine dinnerware to military-grade armor and the recyclable aluminum can, CoorsTek (formerly Coors Porcelain), has been a site of constant invention and reinvention. In that same spirit, the land is being reimagined and revitalized for the next 100 years. It’s also a big reason why the Clayworks vision and plan were unanimously approved by Golden City Council.

TEAM

it’s personal

Golden, Coors and Colorado are inextricably connected. After all, few families can trace their Colorado roots back further than Coors. So it only makes sense that the family would reinvest in the town that has been so good to them by continuing its stewardship with hands-on redevelopment. The Coors family, doing business as AC Development Co., has enlisted a team of best-in-craft planners, architects, engineers, sustainability advisors, and builders to help guide this project to its fullest potential.
